Haha that’s very insightful of to to nortice that!

But you’re spot on – most of my design happens out of the office as I have to make sure
      A) people like it
      B) people can afford it
      C) it can be built from relatively local materials
      D) it suits local building techniques e.g. people are skilled enough to construct
      E) it matches local cultural processes e.g. in some areas people harvest the waste to use as manure, in other places men cannot use the same toilet as their daughter in law
      F) it suits local environment and won’t pollute water sources

It’s more complicated than you would think! So its important to be out of the office to reach a realistic solution. It would be easy to sit in office and design something beautiful but completely unsuitable.
